Description
Mastecyl E® is a sterile oily solution containing drostanolone enanthate, an esterified form of drostanolone. Drostanolone is a synthetic derivative of dihydrotestosterone, while the enanthate ester is attached to the 17β-hydroxyl group and increases the lipophilic character of the molecule.
The oily injectable form is suited to this esterified steroid compound for deep intramuscular administration. After injection, the oil phase forms a depot from which the esterified substance is released gradually before enzymatic hydrolysis of the ester bond yields drostanolone. In this type of preparation, the ester structure and oil-based vehicle are important factors influencing the depot character of the product.
