Description
Nandrocyl PH® is a sterile oily solution containing nandrolone phenylpropionate, an esterified form of nandrolone. Nandrolone is a 19-nor steroid compound, while the phenylpropionate ester is attached to the 17β-hydroxyl group and increases the lipophilic character of the molecule.
The oily injectable form is suited to this esterified steroid compound for deep intramuscular administration. After injection, the oil phase forms a depot from which the esterified substance is released before enzymatic hydrolysis of the ester bond yields nandrolone. Compared with longer-chain nandrolone esters, the phenylpropionate ester gives the preparation a distinct ester profile within oil-based injectable formats.
